About Well Made

Well Made retails, designs and manufactures solid-wood framing and organization goods for the home. Founded in 2013, we design and sell goods to consumers and wholesalers under the Well Made brand, as well as develop products for private retailers to purchase at large volumes. We work from a 9,000sq/ft woodshop, office and fulfillment space in the Avondale neighborhood, and partner directly with large-scale manufacturing in Europe. Our mission is to create intelligent, fun and useful products made with the highest quality possible, and has been backed by the likes of Shutterfly, Target, Urban Outfitters and many more.

Purpose

We are looking for a highly-organized Full or Part-Time Fulfillment Team Member to facilitate daily shipping and fulfillment operations, as well as splitting some of their time helping complete product assembly. The employee would take ownership of all order processing; from daily order packouts and label generation, keeping monthly inventory counts and taking ownership of making sure shipping supplies are kept stocked and organized, as well as facilitating occasional pallet assembly and receival.

The ideal candidate would have 1-3 years experience in a similar position or have a keen ability to pick up new tasks quickly. The main objective of this role is to help support our business’s existing and future tight production deadlines by picking up the tasks that continually slow down our small team outside of our woodshop. Someone with 1-3 days availability during the week, even if half days, will find a great work environment within Well Made..

Duties and Responsibilities

  • 50% - Fulfillment of daily shipping and receiving duties. This includes physically preparing retail, wholesale and LTL shipments, label processing in our shipping software, Shipstation, and tracking shipments to facilitate carrier claims when needed. Prioritizing your workload amongst various deadlines to ensure on-time shipments will be paramount.
  • 30% - “Last mile” product fulfillment operations. Oftentimes there are overlapping duties in our Assembly and Shipping departments including, but not limited to, placing retail packaging and stickers on product, case packing and some product assembly, i.e. preparing raw product for retail packaging.
  • 10% - Inventory management and reporting on a monthly basis, as well as low inventory reporting.
  • 10% - Properly organizing materials, components and supplies. Every employee is accountable for paying detailed attention to their workload and workspace.

• 30% - Product pack out. This is the last stage of quality control possible and the last step before products are shipped to our customers. This includes “kitting” finished goods with installation hardware and retail packaging to ensure a great customer experience.

• 10% - Production process refinement. We place a large emphasis on thinking about the correct manufacturing techniques so that we offer products that last a lifetime in an efficient manner.

• 10% - Properly organizing and cleaning materials, components and tooling . Every employee is accountable for paying detailed attention to their workload and workspace.

Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate would have 1-3 years experience in a similar position or have a keen ability to pick up new tasks quickly with an eye for quality, craftsmanship and detail. There will be consistent lifting of various box size and weight ranges and pallet jack / stacker use. We want someone who shares our entrepreneurial spirit and gets excited to complete their duties efficiently and thoroughly. Someone with 3-5 days availability during the week, even if half days, will find a great work environment within Well Made.

Experience / Education

Notice we put Experience before Education. Much of what we do requires hands-on experience or, at a very minimum, the ability to be taught and ask questions. No formal degree required, high school diploma or equivalent is a must.

Pay and Benefits

Compensation for this position ranges from $14-18/hr based on experience and is paid on the first and fifteenth of each month with a 1 check lag period to start. Well Made is persistently growing and, for the right team member, will offer ample opportunity for advancement. Part-Time staff are required to remain at an hourly pay scale while Full-Time staff are required upon onboarding to begin at an hourly scale for at least 1 full year of employment before salary eligibility. Salaried employee benefits include the following:

  • Two weeks paid vacation
  • Five paid holidays
  • Three paid sick days
  • Retirement plan
  • Health, vision and dental insurance is eligible for all full-time employees after three months

We are seeking full or part-time availability, 3-5 days per week. This position is available immediately.
